Description: "The Fayetteville City Hospital Auxiliary was organized on March 29, 1909 to help with community efforts to establish a hospital in Fayetteville. The group assisted in making contacts to secure contributions from the community. Its first fundraiser was a flower sale. Today, the auxiliary continues its strong support of Northwest Arkansas' first hospital.

Volunteers provide a number of services. They visit the nursing home residents. They provide music, help with birthday parties and host special theme-based dinners. They accompany residents on outings in the hospital van.

The auxiliary also hosts fundraising activities to fulfill its original mission of assisting with equipment, linen, patient care and social service needs. Funds are raised through the Attic Thrift Shop (operating since 1957), The Bair Lair gift and snack shop and through membership dues. City Hospital Auxiliary also awards the Auxiliary Scholarship each year to a deserving student who plans to study nursing."
