Description: The Building Safety Division assists customers in understanding and complying with the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, Plumbing and Gas Code, Energy Code and the Unified Development Code: Chapter 173. Plans are checked for code compliance before permitting, and architects/contractors or owners are notified of issues prior to construction. Field inspections are made on all construction, including additions, alterations and repairs, to insure that the citizens of Fayetteville have a safe and sanitary environment. The enforcement of codes affects insurance rates in Fayetteville; the health and safety of our citizens and guests; the damage to a structure when a storm or fire occurs; energy consumption; and the quality of life in Fayetteville and the surrounding area.
